The M-Cut starts its closed-loop move when the extruded material blocks the lower photoeye. It then feeds out the exact desired length of material that the operator entered into the keypad. When the move is finished, an output on the M-Cut tells the shear to cut material. The M-cut then waits for both the shear to retract and the loop to cut the lower photoeye before making the next move. An interrupted move of this type is as accurate as a regular move. A move can be interrupted as many times as necessary. The accuracy and speed of the move is a function of the quadrature encoder and the performance of the motor and drive.
