The positioning of the flow meter is important in that it senses the total flow and is the reference that the M-Trim follows. There are some limitations that need to be understood for this system. If process flow is zero and additive setpoint is greater than 100%, then the additive pump will run away. If process flow is zero and additive setpoint is less than 100%, then the additive pump will stop. If process flow is zero and additive setpoint is 100%, then it is indeterminate. If process flow is non zero and additive setpoint is 100% then additive pump will increase to full motor speed or run away. This suggests that this technique is probabably best suited to smaller additive percentages.
