Foam sheet is used as a carpet backing and in furnature applications. It is cut or shaved from a foam log that is made of either new or recycled foam. The log is turned at its' core (axle) and slowly lowered onto a saw blade. This process creates a continuous foam sheet. The log is supported on a ballscrew carriage and must move at a constant rate downward toward the center of the log to achieve a constant sheet thickness. The CX-1010 follows the log core and controls the ballscrews such that the ballscrews move the log down a specific amount for each rotation of the log as required by the setpoint in the CX-1010.
