Contrex recommends replacing any CX-1000 with a new CX-1010 now before the economy kicks back into gear and production demands ramp up.  Each year a few CX-1000 controllers come back for repair or refurbishment.  However, most service parts are now obsolete and unavailable, making upgrading the only option.

 

Though mostly backward compatible with the CX-1000, the CX-1010 has a few minor differences in programming parameters and encoder power supply voltage.  These differences are better addressed during a scheduled replacement versus an emergency when lost production capacity counts.
